Lock Groove

What is it that keeps us from our full potential? How many nights will I sit and think of change only to repeat the same lap around the track the next day? We all could use some change. There's not a wall in sight...just distractions that drain. It's time to set them aside, rip them in half and bury them in the dirt. This is meant to be read as motivation, for me and anyone who could use it.

No more. No need to wait for New Years. It's Wednesday June 18th.

EASY!!!

I posted a youtube clip of Mk-Ultra playing at the Fireside not long ago. I found out yesterday Kirk, one of the founding memebers will be doing an interview live this Sunday (June 15th, 7PM (CST)). I assume he will be talking about all things MK-Ultra. Check it out: Listen

Pagliai's

Mk-Ultra practiced in my basement for awhile shortly after I graduated from NIU. I would be working on Magic cards or something while the house shook and vibrated beneath me. It wasn't too bad tho...they mostly just ate pizza and made jokes all day. Kirk was always really supportive of me and I have never forgotten that.

Sorry, Skateboarding is dead...

Laugh now pal, it's the future...

(N8) Van Dyke x IronMan

Oh man, run over to N8's website and check out the concept art he just posted for the new Iron Man video game. It's rare we get to see the drawings and concept art like this. Which kinda sucks because there's so much nice stuff.

Old-New Star Wars Essential Guidebook

I was looking thru some dusty old files I had burned to CD in 2K2 today. It's slightly troubling that we now have digital-memories to come across in a drawer. I wonder if someday these CDs will be unable to be read by a contemporary computer? Anyway...I was thinking about how I felt after finishing 120+ color Illustrations for the Star Wars New Essential Guide to Characters. I felt like I had been thru an Illustration Marathon. I really did put my heart into that thing. To think at one point I was planning on inking them all! (only two pieces were inked, Darth Vader and 4-Lom). Working from home as a freelancer, nobody sees how hard you are working, they don't feel the long 16 hour days, the late night pots of coffee. This can be a rough job but I'm so glad I have stuck it out. After the long SW project ended, the money I made allowed me to move to San Diego, California where I only knew one person. I can still see that sunset as we left Illinois around 5 PM, my cat Randall (R.I.P.) and I in a truck pointing west.

Just looking at these two pictures is stressful. They were taken a few moments after finishing the last illustration for the Star Wars book (I was asked to do a last minute illustration of Admiral Akbar).

I had planned to do a special zine showcasing some of the sketches I did. The Author Daniel Wallace even agreed to do it! Unfortunately, I had problems with a printer and it got shelfed.

Subhumans/Criminal Damage/Conquest for Death

My friend Devon asked me if I would do a silk-screen poster for his band Conquest For Death's future show with Criminal Damage and The Subhumans. I'm a fan of all of them so I said sure, dude brah that would be sweet. Monolith Press did a Killer job printing these and I hope to work with them in the future on some art prints. The specs are 18"x24", 3-Color, 64-Silver/54-Gold. There's a rubber stamp on the back of each poster with corresponding color. Signed and numbered. Conquest for Death will have the Silver posters for sale at both shows in San Francisco and Reno. The gold will be available on my site on April 8th. I wanted to point out that Australian artist Glenn 'Glenno' Smith does a ton of great art, including several pieces for Conquest for Death releases, etc. Time to work so I can go to this!!!

How you like them apples?

I thought there was no hope for humans. Turns out there is a place where compassion still exists. I walked into a bakery on Telegraph with some friends not long ago. I saw a quite yummy looking apple pie (my favorite damn thing on earth) but didn't have enough cash on me to purchase it. I walked back out, beaten, empty-handed...then decided to walk back in and settle on a apple scone. What I thought was apple was ginger. Dammit, no apples. As I was walking out, the owner Alison said 'You like apples don't you?'. She GAVE me the apple pie. Probably one of the best I've ever had. With coffee?...sheeyt.
